Set in our backyard skate bowl, this series is a tribute to the DIY spirit of boardsports and music, dedicated to creators carving their own path through the sound waves. 🤟

BACKYARD ARTISTS
Since forming in mid-2014, Forests, a Singapore-based trio, have gained a global following with their unique blend of 90s-influenced emo and math-pop. Their reputation has been bolstered by word-of-mouth buzz, earning them recognition as new heroes in the emo/math rock genre. They’ve been featured in major music publications like Stereogum, NME, and Bandwagon. Notably, they were the only Asian band highlighted in Vulture.com’s list of 100 Greatest Emo Songs of All Time and The Ringer’s Most Important Emo Songs Of Every Year, with their song “Tamago” named the most important emo song of 2016.
Forests are known for their energetic live performances, which have taken them from intimate club shows in Singapore to legendary venues across Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the United States. In 2024, the band is re-energized and looking forward to new musical adventures, including a tour across the USA and Canada with Origami Angel in October and November.
Weish (Chew Wei Shan) is a versatile Singaporean artist known for her work in music, performance, and sound design. As part of the electronic duo, .gif, and other bands like sub:shaman, she has made a mark in the indie music scene, also curating as a DJ at Mediacorp Indiego. Her global work spans sound installations, tours, and prestigious festivals, including Sundance. Notably, she recently wrote and directed the musical “Secondary” and is set to perform at the National Day Parade 2024. If you missed it at Padang this year, don’t worry—we’ve brought her to you at TRIFECTA’s skatebowl!
Meet the talented members of Pleasantry: Samantha Teng, Ahmad Ariff, Haziq Hussain, Lucas Tee, and Isa Ong!
Hailing from Singapore, this band creates captivating guitar arrangements and warm melodies that blend softness with intricate complexity. Drawing inspiration from a rich mix of musical tastes and backgrounds, Pleasantry uncovers the beauty in everyday moments and the essence of human experience.
Singapore rock ‘n’ roll band Cashew Chemists started as a metal act in 2005 under a totally different name. However, their love for classic pop-rock bands like The Beatles transformed their sound, leading to strong melodies, sharp guitars, and smart lyrics instead of head-banging antics.
With performances on both local and international stages like Laneway Festival, Neon Lights, Urbanscapes, Java Sounds Fair, and Baybeats, the Cashew Chemists are a musical force to be reckoned with. Catch them live and experience the evolution firsthand!
